Finally an All-in-One Digital

Strengths: Everything; 25mm WA, 12x Zoom, Vivid Color, and a Leica lens.

Weakness: None so far!

I have had several digitals going back to '98, so I have had quite a wide ranging experience that covers one Casio, two Sony, two Olympus and now the Lumix. I can't think of anything that Panasonic left out in this camera. Can't wait to learn all the features.

Best all-around compact camera

Strengths: 25mm Wide Area, 12X zoom, autofocus during HD movie zoom

Weakness: Expensive Battery

If you are going on vacation and want to travel light, this is the camera for you because it will give you quality stills and movies. A 12X optical zoom from a 25mm wide angle to 300mm tele from such a compact body is like a dream come true, not to mention that the optics are from Leica. It has all the useful features of the latest digital compacts like optical image stabilization and face...

DMC-ZS3K LUMIX 10.1 MP Compact Digital Camera with...

Strengths: Gives 35mm SLR like-quality, without all the bulk. Great monitor viewing! What you see is what you get.

Weakness: The battery is the weak link in the system. I wish you could turn the screen off, and still have a viewfinder.

I have a Cannon 35mm SLR film camera. I also have the 40D Cannon. I have a Sony cybershot 8.1 MP. The Lumix is the best of the lot, if portability, light weight and quality pictures is your priority. My ideal travel cameras is the 40D and the Panasonic DMC-ZS3K LUMIX. You'll find yourself wanting to grab the Lumix more than your your 40D, or SLR Nikon, etc. The Panasonic DMC-ZS3K LUMIX is great.

Proprietary Battery Problems

Strengths: If it didn't need a battery, I might like it.

Weakness: Proprietary battery

I just got this camera and bought a spare battery. Because it wasn't a Panasonic battery the camera won't read it - it displays a message that says "this battery will not work in this camera". The battery package says that it works with the DMC-Zs3 camera but it doesn't. I sent the battery back to Abes. I tried to buy a new one but Panasonic batteries are out of stock at this time. Then I went on...

Awesome camera

Strengths: High optical zoom, records in HD

Weakness: Slightly bigger than most digital cameras.

I got this camera for my girlfriend and we really love it. One of the best parts is the 12x zoom, which is much higher than most cameras this size. Otherwise, the only thing I would like to change is if it had face recognition for my dog - we take tons of pictures of the dog, but the camera can't label his face.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 (black)

THE GOOD: Long and wide-angle zoom lens in a compact body; 720p movies; lens can zoom during movie capture. THE BAD: Very few manual controls. THE BOTTOM LINE: As long as you dont want much in the way of manual features, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 is a very nice camera that can handle a variety of shooting situations.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3

To assist with the capturing of these images they have installed a 25mm wide-angle lens which increases the area of the visual field enabling the user to take large group or landscape photos. Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 Review

Panasonic practically created the pocket long-zoom digital camera category represented by the Lumix ZS3, and they continue to perfect it. Its 12x zoom and simple design will win you over right away, and the performance from its 10.1-megapixel sensor will make you want to take the Panasonic ZS3 along wherever you go. It's hard not to love a digital camera that takes you from a very wide 25mm out...

Camera Labs – Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 review

Panasonic’s Lumix DMC-ZS3 continues to be one of the most flexible compacts on the market, and one with very few rivals. Like its predecessor it may not be the slimmest compact around, but considering the huge 12x optical zoom packed within, it remains a remarkable and compelling proposition. The lens is now wider and longer than before and the choice of encoding formats for the HD video mode a...
