Good camera, a bit overpricedStrengths: - Small size - Excellent facial recognition and image stabilization - Easy to take good pics with Weakness: - Limited zoom - Anything more than point-and-shoot is less than obvious - Appears a lot bigger than it really is I got this camera to take party pics with after finding my trusty Canon PowerShot A630 too bulky to carry around. I scored mine for $219 online after a $10 discount. The unit looks larger than expected when you first unbox it. That is, until you find that it literally disappears as easily into most pants/jeans pockets as a cellphone. It remains practically invisible even when I'm sitting down (no...

Excellent point and shoot cameraStrengths: - Very compact - Stability control works great - Takes great pictures with no effort Weakness: - Separate charger for battery Overall, I'm really impressed with this camera. I'm not a professional photographer by any means, but the pictures I'm taking are coming out great. When I was looking for a camera, I had two primary criteria: 1. It had to be small and durable enough to carry around without me wanting to leave it at home because it was too big or fragile. 2. It had to be able to consistently take good pictures...

Good camera that slightly improves on the SD1000...Strengths: The new features, such as IS (Image Stabilization) and face recognition sets this camera apart from other ultra-compacts. Weakness: The SD1100 IS has not shown much improvement in terms of image quality in regards to its predecessor, the SD1000. Overall this is a very good camera. Sleek, small, lightweight, crisp photos and very user friendly. However, if you are looking to save a little bit without sacrificing much, I suggest you go with the earlier model, the SD1000, another great Canon Camera.

Best point and shoot camera so farStrengths: No shutter lag, stylish, image stabilizer, view finder. Weakness: A bit pricey. I had the Canon SD1000 for two years and decided for an upgrade. My first choice was the Canon SD1100 and I'm glad that I made the right choice. It has 8 megapixel CCD, which is more than the 7.1M from SD1000. It also added in an image stabilizer that assists me to make clear shots for moving objects. It works amazingly well. I compared the pictures taken with SD1100 vs. SD1000, and I can clearly...

Great For the PriceStrengths: Very quick photo capture, very little shutter lag for a Digital Point and Shoot. Lots of extras in camera, like photo stitching which is very easy to use. Good battery life. Weakness: I would like a bit more optical zoom. Not really a weakness as I knew that before purchasing the camera. We love it, recently we made the switch from Nikon, for both our D-SLR and Point and Shoot cameras, to Canon and we love both of them. We purchased a XSi 12.2MP with the lens kit, to replace our aging 35mm Nikon N90.

nice cameraStrengths: small and nice-looking Weakness: limited optical zoom I purchased this camera about two weeks ago to replace my large but high-quality old one. Compared with it, this camera is very convenient because of its small size. The quality of the photos are not bad. Of course, this sacrifices its optical zoom. In a word, it is a perfect camera for family use.

Am returning itStrengths: Fits in pocket. Nice color. Weakness: Grainy images. Slow shutter speed. Fails in low light situations. Poor autofocus. Redeye reduction does not work. I bought this as a replacement for my old 3.1 megapixel elph. This 1100 is the worst camera I have ever used. I have four other Canons, including a 20D and I cannot believe the poor quality of this pretty but useless mistake. Maybe I got a lemon!! If you decide to try it, keep your receipt.

Nice cameraStrengths: compact size, face detection, image stabilization and good quality of movie Weakness: pricy and only 8.0mp(it might be enough but...), cannot use zoom during movie(only use digital zoom) I got old digital camera from sony. It was a bit broken. I decided to change my digital camera. I chose this(sd1100). This is almost new one. I could read some reviews of this camera. It has lots of funtions: face detection, image stabilization, motion detection tech. These features makes more clear picture. I will recommend this camera to the friend.

Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS (Silver)
THE GOOD: Great image quality; minimal shutter lag; speedy performance; optical image stabilization; face detection; optical viewfinder. THE BAD: No manual exposure controls; slow flash recycle time. THE BOTTOM LINE: Canons SD1100 IS adds optical image stabilization to last years hit SD1000, while delivering just as impressive image quality. Top

Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Review
Though the minimalist tribute to the original Canon ELPH has faded, the Canon SD1100 IS is still an impressive digital camera that makes a few significant improvements to one of the most popular digital cameras in recent history: the Canon SD1000. Those improvements only add to the excellent image quality we found on the Canon SD1100's predecessor. Optical image stabilization is the most... Top

DCRP Review: Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital ELPH
All things considered, the PowerShot SD1100 is a quality ultra-compact camera. It offers good photo quality, snappy performance, and image stabilization in a sleek, stylish metal body. Sure, there's room for improvement, but I'm yet to review a perfect camera. So, if it's a compact camera you're after, then this one's definitely worth a look. <p> Top

A great Camera
Strengths: Size, picture quality, Easy to use, Image stabilizer
Weakness: Plastic Body, limited optical zoom, uses canon battery pack
I believe that the Canon SD1100IS is a great camera. The shape and size of the camera is a huge plus. The camera is built like a rectangular box without any parts extending beyond that. The camera's size is also on par with many cell phones, which makes the 1100IS quite portable. The picture quality produced by this camera is astounding. It might cost more than your typical point and shoot camera...
