Well Designed, Highly RecommendedStrengths: Looks great, well built, adds AA battery option for camera power, improves camera balance/feel. Weakness: Added weight, removing camera battery cover may require consulting the camera manual. Overall, a great product. Doubles battery life for extended shooting with on-camera flash, lots of autofocus (e.g., shooting sports with long lenses), extended use of camera LCD screen. Allows use of AA batteries if you run out of charged Canon LiOn battery packs. Also allows use of Canon Hand Strap E1, which very-comfortably and securely straps the camera/grip to your hand.

Great addition to the 40D/30D/20DStrengths: Doubles battery life, allows use of AA batteries with the provided magazine, makes camera feel more "natural," can operate with only one BP-511A battery, easy install/removal, good build quality. Weakness: Could use an AF-ON button to match the built-in grip on the 40D. Expensive. This grip really makes my 40D more enjoyable to use. It's hard to describe, but the camera feels more of an extension of myself with the grip on. It just feels more natural. I do a lot of sports photography, which often requires switching to or from horizontal/vertical as quickly as possible. Having the added set of controls on the grip allows me to do so with very little effort. I've taken close...

Amazing gripStrengths: Well build Good weight Texture to prevent slip Weakness: Could be a bit cheaper I got this grip to use with my canon EOS 40D digital camera. It is providing really good battery. the grip also have a good feel. Connects well with the camera and quality of the build is pretty good. I would definitely recommend this unit to whoever is interested in grip units for theirs EOS cameras

Canon BG-E2N EXCELLENTStrengths: Nice added feature to the Canon EOS 20D, 30D, or 40D Cameras. Has a shutter release button and dial to adjust camera settings. Water resistant build, nice added grip. Allows for extended battery life. Weakness: Adds weight to the camera The battery grip can hold two BP-511A or six AA size batteries. it is also equipped with a vertical-grip shutter button, dial, AE lock/FE lock button, and AF point selection button to enable shooting in the same way as a horizontal grip. The battery grip has been so helpfull in taking portait shots.

Dissapointing OverallStrengths: Extra long battery life, nice for vertical shooting, gives you a bigger grip on the camera. This unit DOES include the plastic AA battery tray so that you can run your camera off of 6 AA batteries. Weakness: My first one broke. From day one, it always attached a bit loosely. Then the fastener wheel got jammed one day and I was BARELY able to get it off the camera, so I exchanged it for another one. Now I'm on my 2nd unit and the fastener wheel spins a little loose when tightened all the way, just like like it did on the first unit I sent back. HOPEFULLY it won't jam up again. It attaches to the 40D more solidly than my first one, but it doesn't feel nearly as tight at my BG-E3 did when I used to own the XTi/400D. My second unit also holds the left battery so loosely that the white plastic...

Canon BG-E2N Battery Grip - a SOLID to your camera!Strengths: A solid addition to your camera, easy to install and use, also doubles battery life. The added controls help transition between horizontal and vertical shots with ease. Weakness: Adds some solid weight to your camera Having a battery grip is essential when shooting for long periods of time. Using one helps me not worry about the thought of changing my batteries. It also makes transitioning from vetical to horizontal photos very simple. Every camera I own has a battery grip. Enjoy!

Canon Battery GripStrengths: Extra battery life a big plus, makes taking vertical pictures more comfortable. also optional AA battery tray. Weakness: Makes the camera bulky, slightly expensive I used this over the past weekend for the first time for my sister's high school graduation. I found myself taking a lot more vertical pictures than normal. This grip makes it so much more comfortable on the wrist. I love the extended battery life. I pretty much never have to recharge my batteries. I would definitely recommend this accessory.

good battery grip - high qualityStrengths: very high quality, works well, balances out the weight of the camera nicely. Weakness: a little bulky, oddly shaped, doesn't fit in hand well I had originally bought the Targus 20D battery grip which was much cheaper than the Canon one. Why pay more for a simple battery grip? The dimensions were the same ( I measured in the store) However, the Targus grip was made in China and just was of lower, cheaper quality, and didn't feel as nice in hand. But it worked fine and fit on the camera fine. The Canon BG-E2N is top quality. But I really...

Excellent addition to the Canon 40DStrengths: Good solid feel and super extended battery life. Nice texture just as the new Canon cameras. it also comes with the adaptor to use 6 AA batteries if you run out of juice on the lithium's. Weakness: None yet. When I'm doing a lot of portraits it's so much nicer to have the second shutter release and not to have to move my arm up over the camera for a vertical shot. It's just so much more ergonomically good to have my hand and arm in the same orientation shooting either vert or horiz. Then having two batteries at once, might add a little weight but with all the strengths it's totally worth it. Advertisement

Great!
Strengths: Solid build
Weakness: Expensive
I had the previous BG-E2 for my 20D and I never used my 20D without it. The feel of the camera as well as the double battery life made it essential to carry around. I got the 40D recently and so decided to get the next gen battery grip and so far it's been a good choice.
