Very good

Strengths: Sharp, maybe the sharpest ultra-wide solution for 1.6x DSLR so far

Weakness: Expensive, especially that you need buy hood and lens porch seperately

Overall a very good ultra-wide lense, better than Tamron 11-18mm, but you may want to look at Sigma 10-20mm or Tokina 12-24mm before you make a decision

Canon Zoom Super Wide Angle EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5...

Strengths: Image Quality is magnificent

Weakness: None

This lens makes me look like a good photographer. The images are incredibly sharp. There is only minimal distortion at the widest angles, and really no distortion from 15mm (35mm SLR equivalent of 24mm)on. At the widest angle it is unbelievable how you can shoot whole buildings without even having to go across the street. When combined with my speedlite 580EX, I can shoot at 10mm and get whole...

Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

Strengths: o Great results & fun to use! o A perfect travel lens o Sharp as a tack

Weakness: o Should have included some accessories

It is because of this lens that I upgraded from the Canon D60 to the Canon 20d! I was sorely missing out on wide-angle opportunities, thanks to the 1.6x crop factor on these DSLRs. My 28-135mm just wasn't cutting it for my typical travel photography. Alot of missed photo opportunities. I had considered the 16-35mm L glass, but this was too expensive and still wouldn't be wide enough. Plus, it...

Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

Strengths: compact and light, good sharpness

Weakness: minor CA near edges, "L" price but build quality is less

The Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Autofocus Lens is a good piece of equipment for the right camera owner. And that may be is greatest limitation. For owners of Canon 20Ds and Digital Rebels, this lens will let you go wide, very much like a 16-35mm on a full frame camera, but it won't fit any other camera. The optic quality is very good, my only complaint being minor chromatic aberration near...

A wonderful lens from Caon

Strengths: superwide, sharp, contrasty, superfast focusing, construction quality

Weakness: cost, ef-s mount

I am a nature photographer and with 1.6x crop factored bodies it was impossible for me to take the picture of wide skies and mountains. Finally Canon came to our rescue with 10-22 ef-s lens. This is the only lens from canon that carries special glass elements outside of professional L lenses. So far I am very happy with the picture quality. Like other wide angle lens it does suffer from...

Only wide-angle solution for APS-C sized camera

Strengths: Really wide! Product sharp photo with good color reproduction. Fast focusing. (Pseudo) Internal focusing. Flase is very well controlled.

Weakness: Image is quite soft around the edges. Pricey.

For APS-C sensor digital camera, this is the only solution for ultra wide angle lens from Canon. I decided to go with it and I am very pleased. The lens has very decent built quality, with (I would call it) pesudo internal focusing. the front element is really moving but within the lens barrel, so if you put a filter on, it will be a single solid piece without any moving part from the outside....

review for 10-22mm canon lens

Strengths: Super wide. Fast focus. Sharp. Low distortion

Weakness: Price. Hood is not included.

This lens is very sharp. It also has great build quality. USM focuses fast and quiet. Colour and saturation is great, although not as "wow" compared to my "L" lenses. For those of you who shoot wide, this is probably the best lens. Compared to Sigma, Tamron and Tokina, you get the Canon quality. In addition, Canon is giving you the 10mm, and I believe only Sigma really goes to 10mm

A MUST have for the 20D or Rebel XT owner

Strengths: SUPER MEGA WIDE! If you have a 20D (like me), or an XT, you NEED a lens this wide, and this is your only real option.

Weakness: It's an EF-S mount, so it can't be used on EF only cameras (90% of the canon cameras), including the 1Ds and the new Canon 5D. High cost for a non-L lens.

PROS: 10-22 with the 1.6 crop factor (multiply 10-22 by 1.6 to see the 35mm equivalent) is equivalent to the 16-35 lens on a Full Frame camera, but that lens costs over $1000. You get that kind of view and shooting ability for half the price!! Barrel distortion is minimal at the wide end, and is fun to play with. Besides, Photoshop CS2 can correct this now, if you don't like the result. CONS: The...

EF-S 10-22mm

Strengths: sharp - even wide-opened, wide enough for almost everything (10mm!), fast and precise ring-usm, optical performance.

Weakness: its bit pricy, but quality can't be really cheap anyway.

Its optical quality is everything what you can expect from good wide-angle zoom (very few CA@wide-opened, reasonable distortions, sharp etc) I have used this lens with 20D for crowd shots in busy exhibition shows and general views and I can only praise the AF speed, accuracy. Only thing I am missing is weather sealing, but what can we do if canon policy is so. You can see many shots made with...

A good choice for superwide zoom users ONLY for...

Strengths: Super wide zoom, and the distoration is indistinguishable until the focal length is shorter than 15. Fast focus, and acceptable photo quality, a bit poor compared with L-lens. Light weight.

Weakness: The price is a bit high, compared with Tokina 12-24. EF-S mount.

This is a good choice for users need superwide zoom, and do not want pay higher price (Canon also offer 10mm L lens, and 20mm as well). The stuff REQUIRE you having Canon EOS Digital Rebel (XT) and EOS 20D because it is a EF-S mount, make sure before ordering. The lens does not come with a hood and it is quite difficult to get saparately, better go to eBay. Overall, it is a good product, though a...

Camera Labs – Canon EF-S 10-22mm lens review

The Canon EF-S 10-22mm lens delivers ultra wide angle coverage to EF-S compatible bodies like the EOS 400D / XTi and EOS 30D. Mounted on one of these bodies it offers an equivalent range of 16-35mm, covering all the popular wide angle focal lengths and allowing you to squeeze in bigger landscapes, buildings or group shots when you can’t step back any further. It’s also very well corrected,...
