Nikon Speedlight SB-800 AF Flash Light

Strengths: Powerful, flexible, easy to use. Helps improve lighting in photographs tremendously.

Weakness: Lack of a Li-Ion rechargeable battery pack.

This flash is the probably the best flash I have ever used. WELL worth the money. I recently purchased a Nikon D70 and found that the built in flash was just not powerful enough to provide the lighting I wanted. The SB-800 fills that job and then some! It's built in focus assist LEDs help the camera focus easier in dim light. The flash head actually zooms and focuses the flash beam depending on...

Nikon Speedlight SB-800 AF Flash Light

Strengths: Dead on accurate with i-TTL, lightweight, great battery life.

Weakness: None.

Nikon did their homework with this one. Everything on this flash from the LCD's layout and icon driven menus to the simplified backlight controls are designed to help you get the job done. There is absolutely no reason why anybody with a Nikon should buy any other flash. The build quality it top notch. The new hotshoe "switch" lock the flash on firmly and eliminates that annoying wobble that SLR...

Nikon Speedlight SB-800 AF Flash Light

Strengths: Great flash. Strong output.

Weakness: Slow recycle times.

The sb800 is a great addition to the D70. It allows me to take very nice portraits of people and being able to use a fill flash for daylight is great. The drawback is that flash's recylce time is too long sometimes and i lose some shots that i otherwise would have gotten to work. OTher than that, great flash and great value!

Nikon Speedlight SB-800 AF Flash Light

Strengths: Really Powerful. Fully featured. Comes with diffusion dome, filters, stand, battery pack & carry-case. Wireless/remote/slave mode works well.

Weakness: You'll need to carry those spare AA's! This bad boy eats up 4 at a time + 1 extra if you use the battery pack for faster recycling times

I'm glad I picked this up. I probably would have been satisfied with the SB600 but I already got this and am not planning on returning it. Maybe I'll pickup the sb600 later on when I need multiple flash (or a backup flash). The strobe flash isn't something I plan on using very much but I'm sure I'll have fun playing with it when I want to do something creative. I'm really having lots of fun...

Recomend this Nikon SB 800 flash for novice and advance Nikon user, you will get proffesional quality lighting (lots better than original build in flash). Comes with 2 gel and Nikon diffuser (free of charge).

Nikon Speedlight SB-800 AF Flash Light

Strengths: Versatile and powerful. This is the best Nikon has ever offered. Nothing better in the marketplace today.

Weakness: Versatility means some complexity in choosing features and modes to utilize -- no way out of this. Same for all.

I've used Nikon dedicated flashes for years beginning with SB-25, then SB-26, then SB28. From SB-25 on, Nikon has lead the industry in dedicated-flash performance but the SB-800 is the best they've ever made. If you have a D100, get one of these...it'll change your life. Also will allow camera's own battery to save itself for pictures instead draining itself to power the pop-up flash.

Nikon Speedlight SB-800 AF Flash Light

Strengths: bounce lighting

Weakness: none

I had research all flashes on the internet for my Nikon D-70. I found out that I had only two choices the SB -600 or SB-800. Nikon was giving a $50 rebate on the SB -800 so that sealed the deal. I can do more with this flash and I can take better photos now. Nikon makes great products

Nikon Speedlight SB-800 AF Flash Light

Strengths: great flash accuracy/range;5-battery option speeds up recycle time; build quality;user-friendly controls

Nikon Speedlight SB-800 AF Flash Light

Strengths: Powerful and versatile, the best so far in the market for Nikon cameras.

Weakness: lack of rechargeable battery pack.

Nikon D70 digital SLR and this SB-800 spped light the Best combination for the best pictures you can take. Difference between photos taken using built in flash and SB-800 is very vivid. In short, though slightly expensive for my budget I just love it.

Nikon Speedlight SB-800 AF Flash Light

Strengths: User friendly, powerful, bounce flash, and diffusion dome.

Weakness: Doesn't come with a rechargeable battery.

I have a D70 and the built flash wasn't powerful enough, so I got the SB-800, I was really surprise at the difference in the pictures. It bring out more color and lighting for the pictures, it also eliminated some of the shadows by using the diffusion dome and bounce flash at the same time. It really is a great product from Nikon. A MUST FOR D70 OWNER.
