18-200 Nikkor VR ZoomStrengths: Owned less than 1 week. Giving it a good trial & found nothing to complain about. Weakness: The creeping zoom I SOLVED THE PROBLEM - IT'S VERY SIMPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Slide a rubber band over the lens barrel bridging the revolving ring with the 18--200 numbers with the area behind ( NIKON------DX ) My band - triffle less than 1/4 in width - about 2 7/8 in long (flat). The rubber band is stretched over the lens barrel, causing drag that virtually eliminates the creep. I intend to blacken my blue rubber band with a Sharpie permanent marker.

Great Lens - one for allStrengths: Very good zoom range, VR does work great, no need to use tripod for most environments. Weakness: Plastic parts feel cheap, a little bit heavy. This is the dream travel lens for Nikon users. This lens can be used for most of the pictures. The elimination of changing lens is really convenient, and reduce getting dust on CCD. The VR is fantastic. I can take pictures at very low shutter speed (1/20) without using a tripod. So this 18-200 lens not only save your weight and space to carry extra lens, but also save the sapce for carring a...

Nikon 18-200 AFS-VR ZoomStrengths: Long zoom range 11X, one lens to suite almost all situations Weakness: NONE! This is a fantastic lense, this lense performed perfectly on my Nikon D2X camera. Super sharp pictures from edge to edge. I shoot at maximum resulotion and was really pleased with the sharpness of this lense. The lens focuses quickly almost instantly and the VR systems performed perfectly under all circumstances. This one lense will fill almost all my needs. I have a bunch of different Nikon zoom...

Great LensStrengths: Perfect travel lens, the VR rocks! Weakness: Barrel will slide down if trying to shoot at the stars. Not the sharpest in the world. This is a very nice lens. I purchased this to go along with the Nikon D200. This is not the sharpest lens in the world, but I have no complaints. The benefits of keeping this lens on the camera 99.8% of the time is wonderful. No more changing out lenses which means no letting dirt and dust into the body. The only time that I do is when I need a macro lens or my portrait lens. The VR means that I...

Nikon 18-200 VR...one of the best lenses you can...Strengths: Good quality lens with outstanding VR feature! Silent focusing. Great focal range. Light weight. Small form factor. Weakness: None really...except I guess that the lens extends rather far to get to 200mm. I would like to qualify my experience with lenses. I have been shooting a Nikon SLR since a manual focus Nikon FG in 1986 and have purchased countless lenses of all different makes. I also teach high school photography and shoot 1-2 weddings a month. I have really nice, top grade Nikon lenses, but this is my favorite. Having said that, I CAN tell a difference in sharpness and contrast from...

You can Buy it in JapanStrengths: Very consistent. Best overall lens made in 50 years. No tripod needed except for very low lighting. Weakness: Slight distortion at the extreme ranges Great lens. I just received mine this morning. Only have used it several hours and the results are fantastic. If in poor lighting, Nikon's 2.8 70-200 VR is still much better. However, this lens is much lighter for all around use. This lens is very difficult to get in the US due to huge demand (2-6 months wait). However, the internet is wonderful...there are plenty in Japan. I just ordered mine...

18-200 is a dream come trueStrengths: The lens feels sturdy, it focuses fast and silent. Great images with a little distortion at both ends of the zoom. Weakness: The lens is a bit heavy but absolutely a dream. I would highly recomend this to anyone seeking a new lens for a Nikon DSLR. The lens' sturdy constructon mixed with the amazing focal range and low light abilities make it a grade A piece of equipment and I'd say a bonus to any photographer's bag.

Outstanding lens for the price (if you can find it)Strengths: VR, versatile, contrasty and sharp throughout almost entire range Weakness: "creeps", currently - very hard to get hold of, plastic filter mount This is one of the most interesting lens recently introduced by Nikon. I purchased it a few weeks ago after a long wait on backorder, but it's worth it. The primary benefit is VR, of course. VR is Nikon's version of optical image stabilizer that works very well especially on the long end of zoom range. It somewhat compensates for a slow f-stop allowing you to take sharper pictures of remote...

Great job, Nikon!Strengths: picture quality, 18-200mm, VR Weakness: not as I found so far. Thanks to Nikon for making such a wonderful good quality lens. I am now able to travel with only one Lens. The lens is sturdy built and produces very good quality picture. The VR functionality greatly reduce the blurry shaking situation. I particularly like the VR function since I am not a good steady camera holder while take photos. With the generous zoom range from 18-200mm, I can almost use it...

Camera Labs – Nikkor 18-200mm VR lens review
The Nikkor DX 18-200mm is one of the most popular lenses available for Nikon DSLRs. It offers a very flexible 11.1x optical range, equivalent to 27-300mm, and covering you for almost all eventualities, whether it’s a wide angle or a decent close-up. This level of convenience can’t be underestimated as it means you’ll rarely miss a shot due to changing lenses, while also almost eliminating... Top

a solid superzoom
Strengths: clearly the zoom range combined with the wide-angle
Weakness: not quite sharp at full-zoom even at F8
I would rate this a step below the Sony/Tamron SAL18-250 in terms of sharpness across the frame...clearly it doesn't have the 250mm range (and I would happily take a bigger, faster, sharper more-expensive lens) but in general it is about the lens that I want, 95% of the time. That 18-250mm was schweet, though, making this just "ok". I have some hesitations about it when shooting landscapes at...
