Excellent battery grip at great price

Strengths: Good fit with the body. Provides excellent grip in landscape frame Build quality weatherproof like k10d body

Weakness: Poor vertical grip in portrait frame somewhat flimsy feel of the shutter, dials and buttons

I purchased this grip right after I got k10d. I have big hand, so k10d was still small to hold.

Build quality is excellent. Other makers sells vertical grip at somewhat jacked-up price. Pentax provides it at reasonable price. It provides same weatherproof sealing as k10d does.

When I install the grip on K10d, it was much more comfortable to hold in normal position. However, when I hold the camera in vertical position, it felt like something is missing. The bottom of the grip was a bit thin compared to other makers' grip, so it didn't provide perfect grip.

You can use two batteries, one in the body and one in the grip. You can put both batteries in, but choose which one to use by changing body setting. There is also SD card holder next to battery compartment, which is very handy. One time, I forgot to put SD memory in the body. Extra SD card in the grip saved me.

The shutter, dials, and buttons feel little flimsy compared to those in the body.

Overall, I'm happy with the purchase.

Pentax BG2 grip

Strengths: Quality build, good ergonimics, useful design

Weakness: Little pricy, requires removal to access battery in camera

I bought this grip a couple of weeks ago for my new K10D SLR. The only gripe I have for the design is that it has to be removed for battery access. Options to use either the battery in this grip or the one in the camera is great, also like the Pentax remote storage compartment. The K10D battery use is already very good, and this grip with the extra battery makes it great. As always, very good Pentax build quality, and this grip is 'weather-proof' just like the K10D. Got mine for about $105 shipped after $30 off for appling for the Amazon CC. Purchase was made through Amazon for Cameta Camera.

Pentax Battery Grip BG-2

Strengths: could'nt be happier with the grip.It really completes my K10 which I have enjoyed since last December. My little finger now has a place to rest. The grip really helps in stabilizing the camera in my hand.An added plus to the already built in system in the

Weakness: A bit too big, if you consider using your camera with the kit 18-55 lens

The battery grip for the K10D is helpful for some situations. It holds a back-up battery that is actually functional for the camera without being swapped out with the main battery, thus doubling your battery time. You do have to remove it, however, to change the main camera battery. The storage space inside the grip also holds a second SD card. I would have given a 5 star rating if this card was also functional, however, it is not and merely serves as storage for the card. The wireless remote control also stores in the battery grip but don't expect to find one in the box. You have to purchase the remote separately! I am not sure the grip needs to be quite so large as the size makes the camera diffficult to tote in smaller camera bags, and makes it cumbersome to hang around your neck. The second shutter release and control dials are extremely handy! Overall I think this is a very good product with only minor drawbacks! I highly reccomend it to anyone purchasing the K10D

Good grip, excellent price

Strengths: Compliments K10D perfectly Works as it should without complications Stores an extra SD memory card

Weakness: Must remove from body to charge the battery

This is my type of equipment; does what it should do without adding complications or issues. It's an excellent addition to my K10D. Especially useful for the times you want to shoot vertical.

It has a nice feel to it and mates (and looks good) on the K10D camera.

The grip also has a space to hold an extra SD memory card which is a nice touch.

I might not want to spend $200 on this accessory, but at $100 (including $25 current rebate offer) it's worth the money to compliment your setup.

Pentax D-BG2 Battery Grip for K10D

Strengths: BP2 provides exllent hand grip with vertical shutter release, exposure dials, and green mode button. In addition, you can store extra SD memory card, D-LI50 Li-Ion battery and infrared wireless remote

Weakness: In order to charge the main battery in K10D SLR Camera, you need to remove this BG2 Grip. With K10D SLR camera, I had to buy bigger camera bag.

Great design to complete PENTAX K10D SLR CAMERA. It gives wonderful hand grip from the vertical with exposure dials control and green mode button. Good for back-up battery storage which can be exchanged electronically through the K10D SLR Camera. Also, it let you store extra memory card, wireless remote. It would be nicer if extra memory card in storage was functional. Overall this is a nice product that completes PENTAX K10D. I highly recommand to anyone who uses the K10D.
